How to Place an Operator HoldUpdated 6 hours ago

Operator Holds are placed on orders in Shiphero when something needs reviewing or editing before finishing fulfillment.

Common reasons to place an order on Operator Hold:

  • SKUs in order need to be changed, added, or deleted
  • Customer requested order to be paused or canceled
  • Address needs to be changed or updated
  • An issue with the order needs to be looked into before fulfillment

Operator holds can be placed manually or as part of an automation.

Orders that are placed on operator hold are "paused" where they are in the fulfillment process and will not ship until the hold has been removed in Shiphero.

Important Notes:

  • Only unfulfilled orders can be placed on operator hold. If an order is already marked as Fulfilled, it has shipped and can no longer be edited.
  • If an order is already in a tote (picked), let your Account Manager know before making SKU changes.

How to Place a Manual Operator Hold:

  1. Open the order in ShipHero. (Orders → Manage Orders)
  2. Scroll to the bottom and find the Holds section on the right.
  3. Check Operator Hold and click Update.

  4. Confirm in Order History that the hold was applied.

How to Resolve an Operator Hold

  1. When the hold is no longer needed, open the order in ShipHero. (Orders → Manage Orders)
  2. Uncheck Operator Hold in the Holds section and click Update.
  3. Verify that Ready to Ship now shows “Yes” in the Details section.

Why do Nice Staff Place Operator Holds? We only place operator holds when something blocks fulfillment—like needing to restock a pick bin or resolve a packing issue. Our team handles and resolves any operator holds we create internally
